Blackwattle Bay Stormwater Skatepark by Elsa Karonis from UTS
In the past few decades, manufacturing in Australia has regressed from its shorelines to rural parts of the country due to growing residential and commercial areas at the waterfront. This project aims to re-focus manufacturing to Blackwattle Bay in an effort to create a self-sufficient and growing community. Blackwattle Bay Stormwater Skatepark introduces a stormwater harvesting system combined with a skatepark, water playground and plaza at the site’s water edge. The technology becomes a communication device for healthy water by integrating public activities and manufacturing into a passive educative and active entertaining park, whilst benefiting the Bay’s aesthetic, economy and environment.!
